2) make sure you add meta tags to your website (key words which you list then when people search for those keywords your site will come up in the results) – all part of SEO – search engine optimisation

3) put your website address on all your business stationary – letterheads, invoices, compliments slips, delivery slips, envelopes, parcel packaging, business cards etc etc

4) promote your website by adding it to your email signature on both business and personal emails

5) join as many social networking sites as you can ie hi5, bebo, tagged, facebook, myspace, yahoo 360 etc and add your web address in your profile or notice boards etc

6) add yourself to online directories who give free listings ie http://www.yelldirect.com/freelisting/home.html

7) get some stickers made for your car, and window stickers made for car windows of friends, family, customers etc

PR is always a good move, ask your local paper(s) to run a feature, get your business start-up story on business sites like http://newbiztips.net/startupstories.aspx

9) use http://www.vistaprint.co.uk to get some free/low cost marketing materials and leave them everywhere you go – cafes, train stations, libraries, school, community centres, college

10) word of mouth is a great way to promote something – and it’s free! tell everyone you know and get them to tell people they know

Well, you are going to need some hardware to accomplish what you want to do. In the past there have been some manufacturers of AM-FM PC cards that fit into a slot in your PC and come bundled with the software to run it. You may be able to search the Internet and find one for sale, I was unable to find any when I looked although I know they are out there. I have never heard of one made for SW although I have been out of the SW game for a while.

Another solution is that many radio stations simulcast their program over the Internet. Contact the stations and ask them if they have a web site and if they broadcast their program over the Internet.

If you are really an avid listener then why not buy a good AM-FM radio? General Electric makes one that is inexpensive and really pulls in the stations. It’s called the GE 7-2887 Superadio III Portable AM/FM Radio and sells for around $50.00 on the net.

Another option is to check out C. Crane company http://www.ccrane.com/ which sells a variety of DX AM/FM/SW radios that excel in receiving weak signals and they sell a variety of antennas and accessories to aid in reception.

Of course you could do what I did and that is to switch to Satellite Radio. XM or Sirius offer a wide (150+ channels) variety of stations to listen to.

I love looking at blogs that don’t just have great style, but also have pictures that have been taken really well. In terms of earning money on Adsense, your mileage varies. One website with the 10,000 uniques a day can earn $50 a month while another may earn $5,000. It is not easy to predict how much you will earn from Adsense. The only way you can learn about how your site will perform with Adsense is through trying it.

The amount you can earn will depend on the

1. Responsiveness of audience to the ads = A travel website that provides information on travel to Spain will attract visitors looking for ways to arrange their travel and spend money on their vacation to Spain. Your site provides the info, but the ads will provide hotels, travel agencies, tourist destinations, car rentals — ads that are likely to get the attention of the users of your site. This is a site that will most likely do well with Adsense. However, if you are a gaming website where the main purpose of the user is to play games on your site, then Adsense will not perform as well.

2. Ad format = some types of ads do better than others depending on your content and layout. In our case, large rectangles in the middle of the content is the best, while leaderboards do not generate as much as income. Skys are the worst for us. Experiment and measure the results via channels and see which formats work best for you.

4. Ad colors – sometimes ads blended into the content works wonders, but sometimes ads that contrast your site colors work best

Users going to your page and reading your content may ignore the banner or rectangle at the top of the page, but may click on the ad at the bottom of the article

6. Smartpricing – the big unknown in Adsense. No one knows how this actually works. But it can affect the pricing of the ads on your site. If the advertiser paid for $0.50/click – but your site is smartpriced – then the cost may be discounted lower (e.g. $0.25). So you may try to develop a site based on high paying keywords but if smartpricing gets to you, then you may not get as much per click as what you are expecting from your keywords.
